Let’s Talk Elements; Fun Facts

In some cultures it is believe that the elements are each a part of God.
An article I found, by V. Moss, read something like this, man was made from earth, with the breath of God (air), God made man of water too (70% of our bodies are made of water” and “If air, breath, spirit and inspiration are associated with the spiritual realm, and with God Himself, then the association is still stronger is relation to fire. “God is a consuming fire”, says the apostle (Hebrews 12.29).” (Moss)

“One of the names of God, the one that is often used is Jehovah. Written in the ancient Hebrew it is spelled. IHVH. This is the original four letter word – the “Tetragrammaton.” It literally stands for Fire, Air, Water, Earth – in that order. (Amalux)

Thought this was kool too,“The Spirit Element –  The fifth element is spirit, in the Sanskrit language is akasha, from this comes the “akashic records,” which is a record of all knowledge pertaining to the material plane, it exists in the astral world. Ether was referred to as the quintessence in the middle Ages, meaning fifth. The alchemist’s quest was to find this fifth essence, which they believed contained the secret of everlasting life. Ether was described as the substance that made up the heavens.” (Magic)

“Each of the five elements has a certain relationship with the other elements, based on their nature. These relationships form the laws of nature…Each of the five elements represents a state of matter. Earth is not just soil, but it is everything in nature that is solid. Water is everything that is liquid. Air is everything that is a gas. Fire is that part of Nature that transforms one state of matter into another…Space is the mother of the other elements. The experience of space as luminous emptiness is the basis of higher spiritual experiences.” (Saraswati 2007)

Earth, Air, Fire, Water & Spirit makes up for everything in the universe. Some believe each can be represented by female or male energy. All are parts of matter or the “physical universe, and the human body is a physical creation existing in the material realm. Therefore, the human beings were seen to be made of and governed by the… five …elements. Maintaining a balance between…all… ensured physical as well as psychological well-being.”

The four elements are believed to rule the 12 zodiac signs.  The different elemental properties have been associated with behavioral attributes and personalities of individuals; persons born under a particular zodiac are believed to have characteristics similar to that of the elements governing the sign. I love little tid bits of facts. Thought this was interesting and wanted to share. When using zodiac signs in readings I prefer using the element of the sign as a general overview.
